Tony Dane worked as a political consultant from 1996 until his retirement. A lifelong storyteller, he has written numerous short stories over the years, though he never sought publication—until now. With encouragement from his daughter Ondrea, the two decided to expand one of his favorite short stories into a full-length novel. The Honorable and the Wretched marks their first collaboration and Tony’s debut as a novelist.
Tony’s writing spans a wide range of topics, but at the heart of every story is a deep focus on character. He believes that compelling fiction must evoke strong emotional responses—whether readers come to love or despise his characters, indifference is never an option.

Ondrea Dane

Ondrea Dane grew up captivated by the stories her father would create on the spot—often inspired by characters and themes she imagined and shared with him. Those childhood storytelling sessions sparked a lifelong love of narrative. As an adult, Ondrea encouraged her father to transform one of his short stories into a full-length novel. Together, they co-wrote The Honorable and the Wretched, marking their first collaborative work and debut publication.

Recently I was offered the opportunity to be a First Reader for a new novel being offered to and considered for publishing to several publishers.
I felt a bit privileged and honored to be chosen. I accepted the offer even though I rarely read novels, thinking I could read a chapter or two a week and meet the time schedule to finish. I was given 5 chapters at a time to consume.
To my surprise, I couldn’t stop at two chapters, three chapters, or even four chapters, I read all five in one sitting and reached out for the next 5 to be sent asap.
The story based on a coalescence of students entering collage and campus life.
Rich, poor, sports talent, societal privilege, all walks of life racing towards adulthood and making their mark on the world.
The book is filled with all the elements needed to satisfy a hefty dose of emotions that keep you reading.
Romance, friendships, heartache, crime, science that interferes with political goals, “nepo babies” who believe the world was created just for them, a mini world of life.
Each chapter left me needing to read the next, till within the week I finished the whole book and even that has left me needing to reading book two, which I understand is already underway. I can hardly wait because there are so many questions, so many unfinished outcomes that need to be revealed. It’s definitely a page turner that you just can’t put down.
